San Francisco, All Other Wonderful Things~

Music: Robbin Sparkles - Let's Go To The Mall
Mood: Great!
Random Note: Man, I Hate Washing Toilets

(I love telling people about my vacation. It's like I just keep going back to the states whenever I speak of it! I think I'm going to make that my intro-conversation this coming semester! XD

Do not get me wrong, I'm really glad to be back here in Sydney with my best bud too! ^^)

The rest of my holiday in the states was simply wonderful!I am awed by much of the american cultures (thanks to jeff & hannah), and there is just so much more to see~

-----------------------------------------------

One of the highlights of this trip was about food, good traditional american food. I never had this much to eat in life thus far (I thought my farewell from SG was bad, but man I was so wrong XD)!

We had a lot of opportunities to eat out, and the newly weds really really know how to satisfy tummies! I had been to the following fast food chains on my entire trip:

- In & Out
- KFC
- Carl's Jnr (Jeff says it's called something else in other states)
- McDonalds
- Taco Bell
- Subway

The best of all of em was definitely KFC! THEY HAVE BISCUITS AND GRILLED CHICKEN AND MACRONNI & CHEESE!!! And it tasted so good, I have no idea how to put it into words! In & out comes close on second, followed by Subway (there's something about the subway there, it just tasted better!) Hey, I liked them all~ But just wanted to list down what I loved most =)

-----------------------------------------------

Now, sides the fast food, Jeff also brought me to many many other wonderful dining spots! There was Korean BBQ (this is the win), pho (vietnamese noodles), baskin robbins (ICE-CREAM!), this other ICE-CREAM place (I can't recall the name!), Pizza (oh-pizza...), Boudin (clam chowder!), creepes, sushi, Golden crown (oh I loved that place~), burger joint @ SF (with really classic layout, you'll know it's just american walkin inside!) and the Irish pub which serves super fish and chips~~~wow...

So much food, all the awesome memories~ Makes me happy just thinking about it...*tears of joy*~ I'm a man of food, and I cannot say I'm really good at anything except a good tongue for identifying great tasting food!

I loved the korean bbq most! Mostly because of the environment, and on top of that, the most delicious bbq meat I had on the trip! It was just MMMM~~~ Hey, I'm not discounting any of the other experiences as being anything less memoriable, because really~ Jeff is just great with food! And he brought me around to try them all, which I am really grateful for!

On a really random but interesting side note, there's QUICKLY in the states! Can you believe that?? Haha! I thought that thing died off ages ago but apparently it lives and~ oh dear~! XD So amusing lah! Nevertheless, their milk tea tasted like bubble tea, with awesome tapioca balls XD Love those so much~

I also had the priviledge of trying out Eggos (which are waffles) and S'mores, courtesy of Jeff! He made them for me after discovering the shocking truth of "you mean you never tried them before???" Apparently, those are very american food, and they were really nice!

-----------------------------------------------

We went to one of America's national parks, Yosamite! This park holds the "El Capita", which is this huuuuuuugeeee mostly granite mountain. It was beautiful~ Yosamite was also renowned for a large collection of waterfalls within a small area of landscape. I have never seen a real waterfall before in my entire life I think. But wait, that was not all! I had my first hike with my best friend, and was THIS close to the falls! Now that is awesome!

I got this thought while I was up there~ "I've got to make sure I travel while I'm still young!" It came to me when I was approaching the end of the hike trail. I realised how much I am missing out on not visiting new places, including those that really require me to be physically fit. I cannot wait till I am old and shrivelled to do that...^^"

Squirrels are really not as cute as they are potrait in stories =) Hannah was telling me how the 'stupid people' are feeding these wild animals and how that really doesn't help them. Haha! I always imagined squirrels attacking humans one day. Still, there was this squirrel that I'll always remember: so it was humping this rock on my way down, and I shouted "it looks like it is humping the rock". And this other guy whom was also staring at it shouted almost in sync the same line as I did! I mean, come on! How cool is that! XD Never underestimate the power of such moments!

-----------------------------------------------

Coincidentally, my vacation was through America's independance day (it's their national day). 4th of July they called it. It is a time for people to get together and celerbrate with their families, and also a time when malls give discounts and try to clear their stock piles!

We visited 2 families on that day: one was hannah and jeff's church pastor's home, the other was hannah's cousin tiffany and brian's place! There was again, lots and lots of food! BBQ, stews, cakes...(oh cakessss...mmmm~)

I also met lots of people along the way, and it was really fun! I'm glad that I had the opportunity to be introduced to many others as "Jeff and hannah's friend" =) I mean it wouldn't had been possible if I didn't even got to know them right ^^? Man...good times~

It was a load of awesome fun with the games at tiffany's place! Gosh they had an AIR HOCKEY machine! I loved those since I was a kid. Also, I will always remember how water bomb is such an awesome tradition, together with the story of "Jeff and his wedding band"~ XD

We made it back by dark to enjoy some home-style fireworks! I cannot remember when was the last time I actually "played" with fire~ It was like, super old school! I loved the whole light up and shiny experience, and it was fun watching the neighbours set off "illegals" as well XD People in the states are so lucky~ they can play fireworks!!! And all we ever got was...oh my tian...XD

-----------------------------------------------

Did I mentioned that I had been inside a Victorian Secret store? Muahahaha! XDXD

-----------------------------------------------

I got to visit San Francisco's Fisherman's Warf @ Pier 39 on one occasion! The 2 hour drive down to SF was really fun, and I think it was the first time we were on a long road that I actually did not fall asleep both ways.

There was the all famous Alcatraz (also known as "The rock"), many shops, and the penny arcade! I didn't get to move around more in SF due to time constraints, but it was really fun at the bay! I tell you, the shops at the warf were so fun~

I was most intrigued by this music-box shop, and there was this little device that you could wind and make it play certain parts of songs. I loved the "it's a small world" one most. You can ask me why in person. XD

There were street performers all over the place, and it was just such a new sight for myself. I had never been to a place with that many street performers, and they actually seemed pretty professional about it. Or should I say, the performers seemed to take pride in their job, and it was just interesting you know? ^^

Now I'm wondering if they would ever get themselves a couple of samurai swords for the den...ever. XD

-----------------------------------------------

I had the opportunity to play on the Wii while I was there! I tell you, you must have the hannah introduction to the Wii before you can fall in love with it! She was like "oh you MUST try this out"~

And I did. Now I'm left here on another continent feeling so jealous XD Haha! Kidding kidding, but I will work towards getting one here!

The Wii is really awesome for parties, and you can really just enjoy it as a whole group! I loved the Raving rabbits games, and I am still very awed by how the system works. Mind you that this is probably my first and best encounter with a next generation console (excluding didi's PS3, which I got to see him play MGS on)! So fun lah~~~~! Love the screaming.

I learned that the PS3 is one of the best blu-ray players in the market! Had my first blu-ray movie on this trip, and boy it was beautiful! Enchanted rox! XD More importantly, Jeff also showed me a couple of movies on this trip! Office space ("I'm gonna have to ask you to..." and "FLAIR!") and Batman the movie (the very very first one with all the "WHAM!" and "BAM!") were my favourite! I cannot stress how funny they were, and I was just laughing so hard~

In exchange, I got them 3 seasons of How I Met Your Mother (finally!) I'm glad that they liked the show!~

I also had a chance to play LAN PARTY at their place! Diablo 2 for the win, and wow...I got a chance to have LAN PARTY! LAN PARTY!!!! I missed those so much...KT & cousins! You guys are being missed as I speak of this~ Man...*a little loss for words*

-----------------------------------------------

Well I guess I've pretty much summed up most of the experience for this trip! If you'll ask "that's all?", I would say "Coz not!". That's because there is really just so much more to it...things inside my heart that I do not know how to express fully~ (probably never gonna get sick of trying though XD)

I guess my best friend and her husband really taught me how to enjoy a good vacation. I felt really loved on the trip, like you know, as though I am back home with my cousins and family? Like when I was still in school with hannah and my best friends during secondary school? At some point in time, I lost that feeling...but wow...this trip really opened up my heart and made me feel so much alive again!

As I had told hannah, I look forward to meeting them again in the near future. I mean it pal...I'm gonna work hard towards that! =) Once again, thank you for the most wonderful experience ever on one of your most important occassion in life! ^^

(Please refer to FB for the photos, as Australia's internet limits my abilities to upload without consequences. I will make use of any other opportunity to upload whenever possible, so stay tuned!)

Los Angeles We Went!

Music: Hannah Montana - Life's What You Make It
Mood: Tired, Great!
Random Note: Love is rated 'E'

(I've been moving around a lot since I got back to Sydney! Pardon me for my really slow updates!)

Perling and Milo were not able to make it for the LA trip with us due to their personal schedules. I really wished they could had made it, but I couldn't have wished for anything else more on this most wonderful vacation I've ever experienced, yet!

The next morning right after the wedding, we were all shagged. Hannah & Jeff got back from the hotel and rounded everyone up, and we set out for Los Angeles together in 2 vehicles!

Now I must say, I really really really take my hat off to Jeff and Adrian, our 2 drivers for the trip. They had been most awesome in keeping us safe on the entire journey. And to have the stamina to last through that 10 hours odd drive on the freeway! I mean, it isn't an easy feat to me at all, and the best I could describe it is with a "Oooo..."! XD

The road trip was so fun! We had 2 walkie talkies on each vehicle, and there was funny stuff being communicated across most of the time (like, the best one I like: Jeff saying "This is hannah, over." XD). There were LOTS of plantations and farms along the way! I was so amazed by all that amount of crops...it is really as I would describe the meaning of spacious. You can just ROLL around for miles and miles and never reach civillization!

I had my first FAST FOOD in the states on the trip down to LA! It's called In and Out, apparently one of the most popular fast-food chains in California (and now expanding to other states). It was so MMMMMMM lah!!! ~ XD

We arrived in LA, Super8 (the place we lodged at for our stay) after the long drive.

The very next morning, the bunch of us woke up to have breakfast at this little room @ the hotel lobby. Breakfast was simple and good! We then headed down Anaheim city along Disney Way (omg they have a road named after Walt Disney!) to California Disney Land!

(I will have to discount on most of the pictures again, kindly refer to Facebook! They are very comprehensive, and you should be able to find them in order of sequence taken)

-------------------------------------------------------

I tell you, the walk down to Disneyland is just so magical! When I approached the park, I could hear classical disney themes being played in surround sound. It was just so...wow.

We had to make good use of the time for the first day, because Donald and Jenn were only able to be around for 2 days. We managed to cover a lot of rides (i.e. space advanture, peter pan, toy story, tower of terror etc) and it was all so awesome!

I had never been to a themepark with friends before, and never had I been so enthusiastic about going on the seemingly scarier rides XD I most probably would not had gone on anything that looked mildly thrilling prior to this trip.

And now, I would safely say I have grown to be more 'adventurous' for this aspect! ^^

Disneyland is really crowded! For some reason, it did not really affect my experience. I do not know why, but I was just moving along slowly in line with others without complains. So not me right??! XD Haha! But I guess it was cause my mind was filled with "50% awesome to be here" + "50% omg my best friend and her husband are here with me arrrrgh!"

There were lots of really wonderful things in Disneyland. I loved the way the park is designed, with all structures built to cater to themes of movies and cartoon classics. There were people in character suits (we always ran after them upon encounter so that we could take photos with em!), and even restaurants with themes! We managed to dine at one called the Blue Bayou, which was supposedly based on Pirates of the Carribean theme! Great place with ambience, service and food (did I mention that the Pirates ride was visable from beneath the bistro?)

Oh so much to tell...where do I really even start!

Okay okay, the Best part about Disneyland that I love was the FIREWORKS! I have never been a fan of fireworks in my life until this vacation (which explains why I usually do not head down to anywhere to watch em while I was in SG). I really loved the sequencing and arrangements~ watch the video if you can from my FB...it was so inspiring that I have actually included new goals in my life to fulfil:

I hope one day, that I will be able to bring people I love with me to go watch em fireworks @ Disneyland...

Now Disneyland was really just so awesome! Arrrgh T.T~ No thanks to Cher for reminding how much I was going to miss my vacation~ (haha! just really...dang!)

-------------------------------------------------------

We visited Hollywood, Universal Studios on the LA trip too! I can now say I had been to the land where movies are made! Now how wonderful is that!!!?

There are more of shows than rides in the themepark. There were move-themed rides such as The Mummy, Simpsons (the best motion simulation I enjoyed on the trip), Jurassic Park and many many others, but I would give the distinctions to the shows!

Apart from the Simpsons ride (it was at KRUSTYLAND OM-TIAN!), I loved the tour around the studios most for this park! I tell you, it was really so so so fun seeing how special effects worked on site, and how some of the scenes were actual filming locations for shows I had watched! I really do not know how to describe how wonderful it felt seeing something that was on TV and actually being at that exact same area~

The park is located on highlands, and the view is simply stunning from some points in the park! I did not get to picture most of it because we were on a tight schedule (only one day at Universal), but I still remember the sights well!

...OH YAH!

SPONGEBOB WAS THERE!!!! T.T~~ <-- Tears of joy~~

Jeff and Hannah have officially tagged me with a Spongebob dog-tag! Man I'm so wearing that to school~ =D

I had my first Jamba Juice while @ Universal! Adrian treated me to one, and man it was delicious! I realised that Adrian was a sushi chef on this occasion, and from that very point forth "anything that Adrian says is nice must try!" ^^ A chef on my trip with me man...how cool is that!

I also saw the first and only Coffee Bean in the states! It was sitting along side with all the other bistros and cafes on the path down to the themepark. Man I miss the coffee bean in SG (although I must say, Australia really really has much much better coffee! More posts to come, soon soon~)

Red carpet, evening sky and giant Universal logo~ those were the last memories I had in my head before we all left for dinner.

I had my first mexican meal ever with the bunch at this mexican restaurant! Apparently, tacos and quesadilieas (or however that was spelt XD) are mexican food! Haha! Never knew about that until then.

The last thing I recalled for the evening was playing my first ever WARCRAFT 3 game at Super8. I would surrender all my prior internet experiences for this; never in my life had I played an online game that responded immediately when I clicked on a command. It was simply...amazing. No lags, pages load immediately...it was like a dream come true (so many dreams can come true in one day haha). I still remembered how Steph was so amused at how amused I was seeing no lag on screen XD

-------------------------------------------------------

We did Seaworld on one of the days on the trip too! It was located at San Diego, and the weather was milder for that day! I was never a personal fan of marine life, so I had to admit that I was not really keen initially. Then, I thought to myself "what kind of a vacation would this be if I was not going to enjoy it and try new things?"

And it most certainly was fun! There was rides, but we did not get on any of them because the shows seemed more worth the while. Also, we were once again short on time due to a schedule to return to Disney for some final events!

What I liked more about seaworld was the otters and sea-lions! They were really cute and made funny noises. XD I was also very amused at how they reacted to food when it was feeding time. There was this one sea-lion that just did not budge, and the keeper had to toss fishes for it to catch with its mouth. It was really adorable!

Oh there was also the sea-lion show with the hillarious host! He imitated all the different characters from different popular shows and movies~ I almost died laughing when he imitated "You've got the BEST ~~~~~ OF BOTH WORLDS! CHILL IT OUT TAKE IT SLOW, THEN YOU ROCK OUT THE SHOW~~~~" XDXDXD So funny lah!

Serena was so amused with horses in Seaworld XD Till this very day, I am still so tickled and how she loved the horses most @ SEAWORLD. Just read it a few times and you'll be smiling like I am now too. XD

-------------------------------------------------------

I had 2 subways while I was at LA! I tell you their cheese super super rox! They have this super delicious cheddar cheese which totally makes the sub unhealthy and delicious with any topping!

Let's see...what other fun fun things I can recall~

OH! I never got to take this photos with the street crossing button! I tell you, it was love at first sight. I pressed it's button and it made a beep sound. And it does that every single time! Oh my...OOOOOOHHH my...can you just imagine how amused I was at the side of the road just pressing it and listening to it go "beep"? XD Good for you if you could, haha!

We were in the same state as Micheal Jackson when he passed on. Thus, my best friend and husband will forever be sharing their wedding anivasaries with the king of pop's~ Cool! =)

All of us on the same vehicle had our first experience with surfing the internet on the highway! Apparently Jeff's phone was able to serve as a device to broadcast like a router, and I decided that I just had to experience internet on the highway! Like, really, how much more awesome can my internet experiences get!? XD

I really enjoyed that short week at Los Angeles! It was really so cool, getting to know all of the friends in the newly wed's lives, and just having fun together as young people!

Man I miss Hannah and Jeff so much right now...

(This post may be updated indefinitely, depending on the amount of time I have at hand to get things done! Appolagies for any loose ends~)

My Best Friend's Wedding~

Music: Micheal Jackson - Beat It
Mood: Tired & Good!
Random Note: I'm Not A Party Animal XD

(Morning Peeps! I'm back in Sydney~! Now to get back to my updates!)

As much as I would have really wanted to make it for the planning and all, I was not able to due to the exams T.T But I must say, this wedding had been most awesome for the youngest couple whom I actually know personally!

I arrived at Sacramento Airport not knowing what to do ^^" Haha! That was cuz well, everything was so last minute plan, we did not have much time to communicate the arrangements. Apparently my mobile company said I would get coverage when I reach the States...well, I did not get any.

So I wandered around a little, while trying to find some way to contact Perlin / Milo. Just as I was about to give up, I heard someone from a distance: "Chun fong chun fong! I see him come~"

I saw 2 very warm faces: PERLIN + JONATHAN! XD They were the first people I met @ the states~

Meet the duo: JONATHAN IS A CHEMICAL ENGINEER TOO! Woohoo!

And my dear senior whom I had not seen in eons~

There is a lot of land in the states!!! I tell you, through that short domestic flight and drive down to the ceremony, I was just so stunned at the number of miles whereby land just continues for! Perlin was telling me how I can see the road meet the horizon and I was like "Oh boy." XD

They drove me down to the wedding ceremony, where photo taking was still taking place around the Congress Library in downtown Sacramento. That was where I first saw the lovely couple and a number of new and old faces~

(Due to the Super Disgusting Australian Internet Arrangements, I have to kindly ask viewers of my blog to refer to Facebook for my pictures! On the upside, you guys get to browse around for a more comprehensive collection of the photos from over at least 8 different cameras! =D)

I saw April, whom I was really suprised by~ Apparently, she was only able to make it on a very last minute note. Well, it was fun seeing her again, and she still laughs in a way similar to mine ^^

I saw Serena, whom I never spoke to this much until this entire trip (more details will roll in as I post)! Now she is definitely one amazing girl, and I am really glad to have actually made a new good friend!

Perlin still looks the same XDXDXD But she certainly behaves a lot more differently! I feel that she had grown to be a lot more mature since the last I heard from her~ Now that she's gotten an American Husband and is living the 'freedom' life, I can see her a lot happier from many many aspects!

Milo was there too for the wedding! She made some arrangements to come over for Hannah's wedding, and had to leave the next morning to return to work at another state. I simply still admire her so very much~ She is one heck of a tough woman, and is always as well presented and poised for any occassion. *Salutes Ms Lim* XD I really hope in the near future, I will be able to keep in touch with her and that she will be enjoying life as well as she could~

Okay enough about people~ There was also Suzie, Tracy, Adrian, Simone and a whole lot of other people that would be too much to type for a short entry! They were all cool in many many ways, and I hope that in time to come I will still be in touch with em all~

We then headed off for the dinner ceremony~ There were like 200 over guests at the restaurant, and I was actually kinda shocked to witness the attendence XD I learned later on that there were relatives, family members and people from church and work~

Random thoughts were racing through my mind i.e. oh dear am I going to make it for an angmoh wedding, was I dressed properly enough etc~ Haha! I guess I was really just so nervous seeing so many strangers, all attending what is going to be the biggest event of my best pal's life~ (yet)!

We had a good spread of chinese food for the evening, which was similar to what the chinese in SG usually do. It was good, and the table consisted of Jeff and Hannah's friends from all over the place. Donald and Jenn were cool, and there was also Isacc and the few of us from SG. Again, please refer to FB for the snaps on that evening~

We sang "Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xing" for the newly weds, and that was actually pretty cool! I think it is really amazing if one can get friends to sing at a wedding event. It is not something that anyone can really appreciate, but only those of us whom had the same teenage life as a choir member will understand~ =)

There was the ending dance and relax time, where I was forced to dance on the floor (courtesy of Suzie, whom really has that sporty character inside the motherly heart of hers XD)! It was all good, and I really cannot describe how thrilled I was that evening over the whole thing~

Wedding of my best friend, States, Vacation...It was all happening.

Finally, A Vacation Post!

Music: Jon McLaughlin - So Close
Mood: Great!
Random Note: I am attracted to beeping buttons

I've finally gathered some discipline to sit down and do some posting! This will be the first post since my departure from Sydney! I hope everyone is doing fine ^^

(Wow...as I was typing, I realised how much I have not used my mind for a while. Having trouble churning out words haha!)

It's really hot here in sunny California =) Now when I say hot, I really mean HOT XD Kinda like an oven if you get what I mean.

It's my third week in the states, and I must say this is probably one of the most relaxed moments of my life ;) I'll wrap up some thoughts and then try to do some coverage on the events here. It will take a while before everything could be done, so bear with me for a while aight?

All that work to get myself to say yes to the trip was definitely worth the while. Honestly, I was really stressed out over things. Well, the weather in Sydney was really cold and I couldn't concentrate. I was a nervous about the whole wedding thing. I could not get my mind down to work, and it really was just all inside my head, constantly pricking my senses.

As a result, I did not perform well in my finals (thank goodness my results weren't just pass)...I was contemplating whether or not to be upset when I actually saw them. I guess it could have been much worse. I know I can do better, and I will work even harder this semester. Hey, make use of the opportunities given to me right? I only hope my family will not be upset at my scores...

I remembered leaving for this vacation feeling so down. I never told anyone about it, but it was like a constant state of misery. Well, I'm glad that a lot of the negative feeling is gone! =) Life is full of ups and downs.

So let's start with the day I set out! The feeling of travelling alone by myself kinda rox! XD I mean, there is no rush, no need to worry, just pure sights and fun. I remembered roaming around the Sydney airport and thinking 'wow, this is so oooo~'. Haha!

The flight to San Francisco was really tiring. I do not really enjoy plane rides (unless the plane has entertainment provided like SQ's A380s), but I must say United Airlines was pretty okay! In terms of service and cabin conditions, I thought it was pretty good. I got to sit beside 2 american teens, both female. One took my pillow and the other took me blanket. Haha~ this story is definitely more interesting if I could tell in person =)

SFO Airport

The plane to SFO~

Check out the angmohs XD

The view from SFO to Sacramento~!!! Check out the mini squares of lands!

And hence, my vacation began! (Next post, wedding stuff!)

Ah Jon
